Chocolate Milk, Lightsabers and Olaf

This past weekend was a new one for the Lucias. Something came up that hasn’t happened in months. To be honest, we weren’t sure how to handle it…

We were in town. With no plans. And no one was ill.

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS

For those close to us (or honestly, anyone who has tried to hang out with us), they know that since probably beginning of November we have either been out of town or had something booked every.single.weekend. It’s been kind of crazy. Top that off with everyone being sick since before Christmas, and well… we had forgotten what a family night looked like!

After work Phil came home and we decided to go out for dinner! Nothing big, but we can’t pass up a good salad bar and ice cream at Jason’s Deli on Cherry Street. I love Cherry Street. We’ll blog about that another time. We may have to do some research and eat some delicious food…. yep. Decision made.

Here’s a run down of our super fun night with a toddler 🙂

At Jason’s, Lu had his first taste of chocolate milk! ***That is, unless Papa has given him some I didn’t know about, which is all to entirely possible. ***

It’s Love 🙂

And then there’s the look when Dad tries to take away your ice cream and eat it all while “helping” you with your drippy cone….

HAHHAHAHAHA!!!! I just can’t deal 🙂

Then we were off to Target! Lu has started to be, well, I’m not really sure what. He’s not afraid of the dark, but he wants the door of his room to be open. I’m guessing so he can hear us and have more light in his room. This presents quite a problem when the TV is right outside his door and his mom and dad NEED to binge watch #MakingaMurderer. Am I right?? We decided to make it a big deal and let him go pick out a night light to see if that would help with the situation. I was thinking one of those $5 night lights that maybe have a basketball on them or something… Phil had other plans.

And who could blame him when Father and Son have this much fun in the Star Wars aisle???IMG_6422IMG_6442IMG_6445IMG_6438

Ahh yes… Phil might have shed a tear for his first lightsaber duel with his son… haha!

But back to the night light! In the end… Olaf won. The kid loves him. That and the fact that it was 1/3 of the price of the 18 inch tall Death Star-attach-to-the-wall-craziness… The man honestly asked if we could get it and put it in our bedroom.

No thank you bleoved.

So, Olaf it was! We went home, got on some pjs, watched at little Frozen and tucked him in. It was precious. And I’m soooo thankful for a night or two to just do what we want as a family… even more so, what we need! I forget what a gift a casual, go with the flow, no expectations evening can look like! Hey Hubs, let’s have more of these, okay?
